Dave Aftandilian Listening to this album is like stepping into the pages of a lost Alan Garner folk horror novel. The mix of black metal and dungeon synth is disorienting at first, but soon starts to make perfect sense. The first step out into the black woods is filled with terror, and so is the second, but mixed with wonder at the strange faery creatures living there—and now living inside your mind, too.

DeadGiant For the past two years, Daedric Disciple has been some of the most rewarding listening experiences for me. "Rural Hedge Black Metal" has become something I now crave with a ravenous hunger, thanks to these two first forays from the artist. No one who enjoys Black Metal or Dungeon Synth, or just music in general, should ignore this artist. The moment The Ragged Kingdom comes to physical release, it will have a favored place as a true relic in my collection. 10/10 Favorite track: Celebration Of The Goblin-Folk.

In the meantime, the wanderer Sacras gathers his strength as he treads on through village and woodland, only to discover a large citadel in the distance, surrounded by lands yet to be discovered.

'Welcome to The Ragged Kingdom!', a voice says from the shadowy foliage. Sacras jumps in surprise! Only to see a Goblin emerge and smile wickedly...

'A land where death and life have been transcended, where spirit and flesh have confused the minds of the land's occupants! where Gods and Demons have become the play-thing of that most Divine spark in you!'

The realisation of this joyous madness and freedom sank deep into the mind of Sacras...

An outstanding Extreme doom death album, in the best tradition. The funerary atmosphere reminds of Evoken ('Centuries of ooze" bears striking similarities, for my delight). It is overall sharp, dark, hypnotic and unrelenting. One of those rare convincing new bands that hold proud the legacy of the biggest names. Bertrand Marchal

It feels like descending into the abyss and listening to all the mumblings and screams of the demons that dwell there. A haunting atmosphere, so devilish and wicked, with the most peculiar and obscure sounds.
